Halloween Costumes UK

One of the most fun things for kids at Halloween, is the fact they get free sweets and candy from all around the neighbourhood, and it might not always seem like it, but it's a great time for community spirit!

It is very important though that safety is a high priority when it comes to letting kids wander the streets dressed as ghoulish little monsters, vampires and ghosts. We have a few simple guidelines that could be followed to help make a safe and fun experience for kids, and a headache free evening for their parents.

While Trick or Treating:

If possible have at least one responsible adult with kids.
Carry a torch or battery powered lanterns so you can navigate in poorly lit areas.
Make sure kids have their mobile phone with them if going out alone.
Make sure costumes are kite-marked and flame retardant.
Discuss a route for trick or treating so you know the areas your kids will be.
Never let kids go it alone, always go with friends in pairs or groups.
Make sure any costume accessories are not dangerous ( use prop knives instead of real ones :-D )
If Kids are going to play a trick, make sure it isn't going to upset any neighbours!

It is always a good idea to make sure kids bring back the candy and sweets that they have been given on their journeys and for parents to have a look through the goodies that they have collected, just to ensure they have not been given anything that you wouldn't want them to eat, and to make sure that there is nothing that looks a little unusual for a Halloween Treat. Children should always be aware of the dangers of taking to strangers, even if their costume is 'cool'.

Hints for the Grown-Ups:

Make sure kids going out with friends are reminded to watch for traffic!
Kids should be advised to stay in Familiar areas.
Make sure and discuss the route you children and their friends will take.
Set a time limit for Kids out Trick or Treating so you know when to expect them home.
Keep your own home well lit on Halloween Night.
